Design with everything your practice knows.
Folii brings your practice knowledge into the project, makes it easier to share with the people shaping the work, and keeps what every project teaches you.
Built specifically for landscape architecture practices.
I know I've made a variation of this plant list ten times.
What project was that great wooden bench on?
I know we've detailed this before.
We've used this grass three times. Why didn't anyone tell me how aggressively it grows?
The information exists. It's in old projects. In someone's inbox. In a detail buried on OneDrive. In a principal's head. In a site report nobody will open again.
Your practice knows more than its folders do.
Folii gives that knowledge somewhere useful to go.
DESIGN
Start with what your practice already knows.
A project shouldn't begin with a blank search bar.
Draw from the plants, products, materials, precedents, details, specifications and palettes your practice has already researched, used and refined.
And see more than the file. See where it was used. What changed. What worked. What didn't. What someone on your team learned the last time.
You correct it once. The practice remembers.

SHARE
Bring everyone into the design.
Clients don't need your CAD files. Consultants don't need another folder. Contractors don't need another disconnected email thread.
They need the right information, in context, when their input matters.
Folii turns the work you're already doing into clear Reviews where clients, consultants and contractors can understand the design, respond to specific elements and participate in the decisions shaping the project.
Good design deserves to be understood.

LEARN
Keep what the project teaches you.
A project creates knowledge every day. A product gets substituted. A planting choice performs differently than expected. A detail changes during construction. A client explains why an option wasn't right. A field observation reveals something the drawings couldn't.
Folii keeps those decisions and experiences connected to the design — and makes the useful parts available to the next project.
Your documents record what happened. Folii remembers what you learned.

Folii connects library records, project history, decisions and field experience so the answer isn't limited to what someone happened to name a file.
Those four questions are what this is being built to answer. It cannot answer them yet — the records, the project history and the field observations they draw on are being built with the founding practices.
Expertise shouldn't depend on who's in the room.
The junior designer shouldn't need to know that Tom happens to be the person who understands ornamental grasses.
They should be able to see what the practice uses, what senior staff prefer, which details have been refined over years, how previous projects were presented, and what was learned when those designs were built.
Folii makes the informal knowledge of a practice more accessible without turning it into another training manual someone has to maintain.
The best practices already have this knowledge. Folii makes it usable.
You don't start from zero.
Bring what you already have.
Folii is being designed to help practices bring existing material into the library rather than asking teams to document their careers before they can use the product.

Start with what you use now.
You don't need to reconstruct the last fifteen years to begin. Every project from that point forward makes the practice record better.

- Those tools already have jobs.
Folii holds the knowledge and decisions that tend to disappear between them.
In time, an integration can send a design action to Asana or a review to Outlook while Folii keeps the reason the action existed at all. Integrations in development
Folii owns the design context. Your existing tools keep doing what they're good at.
I have drawn the planting plan. I have built the fee spreadsheet.
Folii didn't begin as a software company's interpretation of landscape architecture.
It began with the small frustrations that accumulate after years inside a practice: repeating research you know you've already done, rebuilding details that already exist, searching old projects for products you vaguely remember, and watching useful project experience disappear as soon as the project ends.
I wanted a place where the accumulated knowledge of a landscape architecture practice could become easier to use — inside the studio, with the people shaping the project, and on the projects that come next.
